New York Mets Fall to Phillies 6-2

The New York Mets suffered a 6-2 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday night, with Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper homering again. Schwarber launched a three-run homer off Mets starter David Peterson in the second inning, his Major League-leading 29th home run. Harper finished with three hits, including a solo shot, his 17th this season, and a double. The Phillies scored a pair of runs in the first inning without hitting a ball out of the infield, with Trea Turner and Schwarber walking and Alec Bohm hitting an infield single. Carson Benge hit a solo homer in the third inning. Peterson allowed five runs on six hits across four innings, taking the loss. The Mets have dropped four of their last six games. And now they head to Chicago to face the Cubs, with Kodai Senga starting Monday. Senga will oppose Cubs lefty Shota Imanaga. The Mets are looking to bounce back from this series loss. But they'll have to do it on the road. So they'll need to come out strong against the Cubs. The Mets' bullpen will be key in this series. With a fresh start, they can turn things around.
